Patients : How We Can Help When Your GP Surgery Is Closed
At Camidoc, we know you can’t chose when you are going to be unwell, that’s why between our service and your GP, you are covered for urgent medical problems 24/7, 365 days of the year.
For urgent medical problems that cannot wait till your surgery re opens, Camidoc is committed to providing a safe, timely high quality service to you and your family. It is staffed by local GPs and nurses who know the local area and understand how best to help you
For any issue that can wait till your GP re opens, it makes much more sense to wait and talk to your family GP who knows you best and has all your health records.
When you call us we will take your details and then a GP or nurse calls you back - they can then decide with you how best we can help.
01 : Advice On The Phone
Camidoc operators will take the patient details and ensure they have sufficient information to pass the call safely onto the GP or Nurse. They are trained to recognise emergency situations so that if an ambulance is required urgently, this can be organised without delay. They may also refer callers to an Accident & Emergency Department, particularly if the patient needs to have stitches in a wound or an x-ray. All other calls are passed to one of the clinicians who calls back as soon as possible, normally within an hour of the initial call. Many clinical scenarios can be managed safely on the phone, either with advice or by issuing a prescription for the patient to pick up. When ever we give telephone advice, we will always ensure you know the things that could happen that mean you would need to call us back to review the situation.
02 : Assessment In One Of Our Bases
Seeing a patient face to face, may be required. We know that especially when patients feel ill, or are concerned about their children, they may be unsure about coming to a base surgery. Time and again we have shown this is the fastest and most efficient way to see patients, and so we have deliberately set up a range of bases throughout all four boroughs that we provide care for. Camidoc currently operates five primary care centres and any patient who is invited can call into whichever is the most convenient. Its important to realise that even if they are based in a hospital they are not a sit and wait service, but you will be given a time to be seen that we are usually able to stick to.
Camidoc’s Primary Care Centres are located at:
1. St Pancras Hospital, 4 St Pancras Way, NW1 0PE.
2. Whittington Hospital, Highgate Hill, N19 5NF.
3. The Laurels, St Ann’s Road, N15 3TH.
4. Homerton Hospital, Homerton Row, E9 6SR.
5. Hornsey Central Neighbourhood Health Centre, Park Road, N8 8JD
03 : A Home Visit
Sometimes a patient is too unwell to travel to see a doctor - in this case we will visit a patient at home, or if the matter is life threatening, we will call an ambulance for the patient.
